Cycling Haiku
Sometimes we take bikes and the sport of cycling (and ourselves) just a little too serious. Thankfully there is a counter balance out there — worldly wisdom and contemporary humor intersect at the Bicycle Haiku website:
why write bike haiku?
perhaps your bike got stolen
at poetry class?
And just in case you forgot the simple rules of creating a Haiku …
“A haiku is a non-rhymed verse genre, conveying an image or feeling in two parts spread over three lines, usually with a seasonal [or in this case a bicycle] reference. There are 5 syllables in the first sentence, 7 in the second and 5 again in the last sentence.”
For example:
stupid bus driver!
now too much adrenaline
read haiku, now calm
—————
I spin cranks smoothly
wheels roll forward straight and true
burrito after
—————
green raleigh, four speed
just ripe for restoration
dynohub. superbe.
