Trying Something New
Next time you are out for a routine ride, feeling bored with your daily commute, or just need a little extra spark … try something new:
- Ride a new route to an old route.
- Pedal with only one leg.
- Ride only in your biggest / smallest gear (if you have more than one).
- Count the number of dogs that don’t chase you.
- Ride with your eyes closed (but just for a second).
- Put your helmet on backwards and see if anyone notices.
- Ride with clipless pedals and shoes / Ride with platform pedals and regular shoes. Ride with one of each.
- Pretend that Bob Roll is narrating your every move.
- Ride without a saddle.
- Make a “wwwwhhhrr” sound whenever you pass a car.
- Ride it like you stole it.
- Try as many handlebar positions as possible in 10 seconds.
- Leave your cycling computer and watch at home.
- Try braking with your pinkie fingers.
- Practice bunny hopping cracks in the pavement.
- See how many cafe / donuts stops you can find along your route.
- Smile and wave wildly at other cyclists.
How do you entertain yourself on the bike?
