Customer Reviews
We feel good about Renaissance Bicycles. It may only fill a small niche in the cycling world, but we feel it has value. And like our bikes, we have “vintage” characteristics — we believe in actual customer service, selling only quality items that we would use ourselves, and that your opinion is very valuable.
So feel free to leave your comments regarding your experience with Renaissance Bicycles. Let us know how we did addressing your questions, helping you make buying decisions, taking time to understand your needs, etc. And if we fell short in any areas, please let us know that too!

The best thing about working with Renaissance Bicycles has been the personal touch. RB goes above and beyond to make sure they understand what I want and need (and with bicycles it’s always ‘need’ right) and then follows through with top notch turn around times. RB’s never afraid to try new things but is also forthright with offering options.
I’d also like to thank RB for being active participants in cycling in Western North Carolina. Whether helping to set up courses, taking pictures or participating themselves, they’re always there with a laugh and a good word.
RB’s thoughtful, dependable and timely. Went beyond to offer what they thought would help me in some bike upgrades. Thanks again Bryan!
I contacted Bryan at RB to help me put together a Surly Puglsey build for winter riding up here in Western New York state. He was extremely helpful via email and kept me up to date as the parts for my build became available. It all arrived well-packed and in fine shape. I was so happy with the service I received that I have put a deposit down for another frame. I would also like to say that as a photographer, I truly appreciate the quality of the frame set and bike build photos on the website. Keep up the good work!!!!
Shortly after meeting the folks at RB, I was introduced to their BYOP (Bring Your Own Parts) service. Building my own unique bicycle was something I really wanted to try, but I lacked the know-how and many of the special tools. RB’s willingness to let me use their shop and tools was the offer I couldn’t refuse. RB was right along side to guide and instruct during the entire project. Whether it’s building a complete bike from the frame up, or just locating a special part, RB not only demonstrates a love for classic bikes, but a genuine concern for their customer’s satisfaction.
RB’s “Renaissance” spin on bikes is truly carried over to doing business with Bryan. The knowledge, expertise and excellent customer service of the local bike shop added to the modern convenience of online consuming…very much appreciated!
I discovered Renaissance Bicycles last fall while researching frames for a new build. I decided on a Rivendell Sam Hillborne and chose to have it assembled by Renaissance after speaking with Bryan on several occasions. I couldn’t be happier with my decision, or my new bike.
Bryan was an absolute pleasure to work with. I had some very specific goals for this project and more than a bit of incongruity amongst them. Thanks in large part to Bryan’s patience, flexibility and unwavering focus on meeting my needs the end result met every goal, including the dreaded budget.
Needless to say I’m a very satisfied customer. Simply put working with Renaissance Bicycles has been a great experience!
I second Mr Sprint’s comments, except that I chose a Soma Smoothie ES and not a Rivendell build. When I think about the fact that in the midst of (promptly, patiently) responding to all my questions and choices, Bryan was also becoming a brand-new father, I am all the more amazed by his level of attention and support — both before and after I made my purchase.
And I got a nifty Renaissance Bicycles t-shirt.
I purchased a Sam Hillborne from Renaissance Bicycles and could not have been more pleased with the service and attention they gave me. It is a great shop and I would work with them again.
All I wanted was a SOMA Buena Vista frameset that I could build up for my wife as a birthday gift. What I got was a frameset and a customer service experience that was astounding. No one in my area here carries the SOMA nameplate, so I resorted to the internet. Bryan at Renaissance shipped me the frame and helped me with several rather dire issues following the sale—issues with solutions in which there was no profit for him, except for a happy customer 4 states away. I’m proud to announce that “Customer Service” is alive and well at Renaissance Bicycles!
Bryan has helped me with several projects and has been amazing to work with. He is always willing to track down a strange part, research and new one and suggest others. I believe he is part of the reason that steel is back. I have raced and ridden carbon, ti, and steel is still the best. Cost effective, lively, and beautiful to ride and look at. RB has a great selection of frames. Pick one, and build it up to ride. Those who ride are in the know. STEEL IS REAL!
